Stress Calculator
The stress calculator determines the stress experienced by a material based on the applied force and the cross-sectional area of the material.
Formula
The formula for stress is given as:
Stress = Force / Area
In this formula, the force represents the external force applied to the material, and the area is the cross-sectional area of the material perpendicular to the applied force. The resulting stress value provides an indication of the internal forces within the material caused by the applied load.
Example
If a force of 500 Newtons is applied to a material with a cross-sectional area of 0.1 square meters, the stress would be calculated as:
Stress = 500 N / 0.1 m² = 5000 N/m²
Therefore, the stress experienced by the material would be 5000 pascals or 5 kilopascals.
