Ring Gap Calculator
The Ring Gap Calculator is a tool used to determine the appropriate ring gap for piston rings in an engine. The ring gap refers to the space between the ends of the piston ring when it is installed in the engine’s cylinder. It is important to set the ring gap correctly to ensure proper engine performance and to prevent ring damage.
Formula
The formula for calculating the ring gap is:
Ring Gap = Bore Diameter * Ring End Gap Factor
Example
If the bore diameter of the engine cylinder is 90 mm and the ring end gap factor is 0.0045, the ring gap would be calculated as follows: Ring Gap = 90 mm * 0.0045 = 0.405 mm
This means that the ring gap for the piston rings should be set at approximately 0.405 mm.
