Foot Pounds of Energy Calculator

The Foot Pounds of Energy (FPE) Calculator is a tool used to calculate the amount of energy produced by a projectile or object in foot-pounds.

Formula

The formula used to calculate FPE is:

FPE = (Mass x Velocity^2) / 450240

Where:

  • Mass is the weight of the object in pounds.
  • Velocity is the speed of the object in feet per second.

Example

If a projectile has a mass of 150 grains (approximately 0.02177 pounds) and a velocity of 1000 feet per second, the calculation would be: FPE = (0.02177 x 1000^2) / 450240 = 0.0482 foot-pounds of energy.

Therefore, the projectile would produce approximately 0.0482 foot-pounds of energy.
